Lazy Sunday Viewing Tips

We've all woke up on Sunday feeling the effects of the night before. You've got the Spinz, you check your bank balance, and your inner gazelle takes over as you spot your favourite watering hole nearby. Get some breakfast and get back in bed with our top Sunday viewing list. Curated by our experts, it's sure to get you through a lazy Sunday and prepare you to face the Monday blues.

Lights, Camera, Action!

If you're in the mood for movies and want to re-live some late 20th-century Hollywood action, why not take a trip down memory lane and stick Jurassic Park on? You've got some surprisingly well-aged effects, an intriguing story of survival, some cheesy one-liners that only the 90s could get away with, and, of course, Jeff Goldblum. What else do you need in a movie?

Rewind the clock even further to the 80s, and Arnold Schwarzenegger takes to the big screen in Terminator 1&2, a rare instance of a sequel being as good as, if not better, than the original. The war between humans and cyborgs provides an excellent backdrop for some mindless violence and a great opportunity to switch your brain off for an action-packed blockbuster two hours.

Action & Drama

Want something to binge on instead? Not to worry, our top TV tips will keep you busy all day and then some, with riveting viewing guaranteed!

Starting with an action/drama series like Vikings is always a good shout. The historically inspired Norse tales of Ragnar Lothbrook make for great watching, with excellent action scenes and adrenaline-fueled battles. It might take liberties with historical accuracy, but we can suspend our disbelief to enjoy the raiding, pillaging, plundering, and all-round Viking behaviour on show.

Next up on the list is Narcos. A captivating depiction of the hunt for Pablo Escobar in Colombia in the 70s and 80s, Narcos' strong storytelling and dramatic action scenes combine to form one of the best historical dramas in recent memory. It may be too much to ask if you're still feeling fragile, as much of the dialogue is in Spanish with English subtitles, but it's undoubtedly great viewing if you don't mind a bit of reading. Narcos Mexico is another show that follows the same format, but re-imagines the marijuana trade out of Mexico and Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo's escapades.

Comedy

For some, gruesome depictions of the drug trade or Viking invasions aren't their idea of light Sunday viewing, in which case we've come prepared. Rick and Morty is full of laughs and is easily viewable with a Netflix subscription in many regions.

The sci-fi comedy animated adventures of Rick and Morty are world-famous by now. With a new series released recently, there's no better time than the present to stick it on TV (and contrary to popular belief, you do not need to have a high IQ to enjoy it).

Guilty Pleasures

Quiz shows? Gordon Ramsay? Paternity tests? TV shows are somewhat all-encompassing when it comes to genres, so we added a few daytime hits to our list. Whether you're proud of it or these picks are more of a guilty pleasure, we know you'll love them!

First off, none other than Hell's Kitchen is here to save you from your Sunday pains. Watch Gordon Ramsay test chefs' skills and mental fortitude through barrages of events and, quite frankly, verbal abuse. Good TV, though.

Fancy a bit of trivia? We've also got the age-old classic Who Wants to be a Millionaire? Lined up for you. One of the most famous quiz shows of all time that's been running since 1999 is always a good watch, even featuring in other popular media such as Slumdog Millionaire.

Slots in Common?

Remarkably, and don't ask me how such a coincidence occurred, but every show on the list also has an online slot version available to play at Spinz! Vikings, Narcos, Rick and Morty etc, all have branded games just waiting for you to take a spin on.
